What does the benchmark score correspond to?#

The score shown on our website is the multi-thread score of the server in question, calculated by the GeekBench 4 tool, run under Ubuntu 20.04. It represents the "raw" performance of the machine at the CPU level, and allows you to quickly compare the CPU potential of the plans we offer. If you would like more details, you will find a precise explanation of the tests performed in this document.

Can I run a benchmark myself?#

You can absolutely run this benchmark software yourself if you wish, on any Linux server (we still recommend running it under Ubuntu 20.04). It is very simple to run, with just a few command lines:

The tool will then calculate the benchmark of your server (which can take 10 to 15 minutes), and will then show you a link containing the result. The scores displayed on our website correspond to the "Multi-Core Score" box.

Are benchmark scores guaranteed?#

On our VPS plans, the benchmark score is not guaranteed: the VPS plan corresponds to shared resources, which are therefore not dedicated. While you should not have any problem getting the most out of your CPU when you need it, it is possible that the benchmark score of your server may go up or down depending on the time of day and the load on our hypervisors (performance is generally better at night, when the infrastructure is less used).

To be as representative as possible, the benchmark scores of our VPS were calculated on our production infrastructure, in the middle of the day, on a node containing other customers.

However, if you notice a major gap between the theoretical scores of your VPS plan and those obtained by running the benchmark, feel free to contact our support so our teams can check the situation in detail.

On our dedicated server plans, you have fully dedicated resources: your benchmark score should therefore be very close to the one displayed on the website. There may be a slight variation depending on certain specific factors (CPU temperature, silicon quality, RAM frequency, etc.), but these should affect the score very little. If the benchmark score you get does not match what is expected for your plan, we recommend that you contact our support.
